Cargo pants, sometimes known as combat pants, are often introduced to us in multiple forms in different time periods. Cargo is used and altered in various ways in the fashion industries and it is commonly found in our everyday life. In fact, Cargo turned out to play a significant role in the new SS trend this year.

History

Cargo pants were first introduced as a battle dress which were first worn by the British Army in 1938. Cargo pants were later introduced to the US armed force in the 1940s. Cargo pants turned out to be appropriate clothing for the soldiers because of the convenience its multiple pockets provided. Huge pockets on the front and the back of the pants were often used to hold items like maps the soldiers had to carry. Afterwards, Cargo pants and Cargo shorts were often worn by labor workers.

Y2K

As the 21st century started, Cargo pants were popularly enjoyed by the public as a fashion trend and a part of the Y2K fashion. Since the Y2K fashion is known as the starting point of the 21st century, it contains nostalgic factors and it was strongly inspired by the pop culture of the 2000s that targeted the younger population. A lot of fashion trends today are affected by Y2K fashion and it is still extremely common to find Y2k inspired fashion to lead the fashion trend.

2023 SS

Cargo pants came back to the public by bringing the Y2K fashion into trend once again. Cargo pants were also able to be found in utility looks that is also a part of the 2023 SS trend.
