Bansky is possibly the most mysterious artist who does not reveal anything but his name, Banksy. Banksy is a street artist who calls himself an art terrorist. People are still trying to reveal who Banksy is. Banksy’s artwork criticizes war and shows pacifism through his artwork. His graffiti artworks are drawn in public spaces that are usually illegal. Therefore, he is known for finishing his artwork in 35 seconds. Also Banksy is known for criticizing the stupidity and greed of humans by movements he calls art terror.

Banksy in Ukraine

2022, right after the war between Russia and Ukraine, a street art work was found on the wall of a building located in Borodyanka, Ukraine, that became a ruin because of the war. The artwork received a lot of attention from the public because of its art style that was extremely similar to Banksy’s artworks. November 2022, Banksy had posted the artwork on his instagram admitting the fact that he had created the artwork.

After the discovery of this artwork of a girl who is on a handstand, another artwork was discovered near the building that looked similar to Banksy’s artworks. The artwork showed a small child knocking down a big man indirectly showing who the big man is referring to.

Borodyanka, Ukraine

In the city of Hostomel, which is about 30 km southeast from Borodyanka, an artwork of a bearded man who is taking a bath and a woman holding a fire extinguisher with a mask on was discovered.

In Irpin, which is 8 km southeast from Hostomel, a drawing of a girl who is performing gymnastics on top of a hole made by war was found. The cervical collar on the girl’s neck clarified the message of the artwork.

In Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine, a drawing of children seesawing on a concrete barricade was discovered. Banksy criticized the cruelty of the adults using the rusty, X shaped obstacle from a tank.

Conclusion

While criticizing war and the cruelty of adults, Banksy proves how much the meaning behind art affects the value of artwork. I personally believe that the mysteriousness of Bansky is his identity and that it adds value to his artwork. I think Banksy represents the public by being unknown but speaking through his artworks.
